It has been nearly 5 years since I last updated my site. I recently updated my portfolio with a new design, so figured it was time to update the site too.
Thoughts / Design
As I've said in a previous post, I'm a sucker (hoarder) for good design books.
When lockdown first begin back in March, I had the opportunity to finish some courses I had started in late 2019.
The third and last part of my talk on UX, covering UX fails, and can UX save lives...
The second part of my talk on UX, covering: the differences between UX & UI; the benefits of UX.
I presented a talk back in Oct 2019 to colleagues describing what UX is, and why I believe it should be embedded within the delivery of any solution where an end-user exists.
I’ve become a bit of a hoarder of UX/Design books. I prefer the printed book when it comes to these for some reason... Probably because I can bookmark with post-it notes whenever I read something inspirational.
I was rummaging round in some old documents the other day when I found an old web design certificate, on actual paper...
I'm currently reading a couple of great books just now (when I can snatch some time here and there).
Earlier this year my friends in Glasgow band The People asked me to do another album cover design for them.
I am always looking at ways to streamline my workflow, and I recently discovered a great little npm utility called SVGO .
I read a fascinating article recently called The Value of Multi-Typeface Design by Bethany Heck.
If you have read my previous ramblings about wanting to become a record sleeve designer, you may not be surprised that I got my first chance at an album cover back in 2007...
I think it's fascinating and amusing when artists & designers take something from something simple such as a child’s drawing, then go on to developing them into works of art.
I felt it important to go through the process of optimising my website, to improve its speed in browsers.
On the first day of my design course at college, the lecturer threw a book down on the table in front of us & declared that we MUST purchase a copy each.
I was briefed to come up with a solution for a client who wanted to view their financial data in an easy to understand layout.
I thought it was about time I shared my experiences & experiments of web development with other like-minded souls.
I've been meaning to explore the use of SVG images as icons on the web for a while now.
Tata Communications (the Official Connectivity Provider for Formula 1®) has been setting open challenges for the public to contest against the backdrop of Formula 1 racing.
It's funny how things come about. During high school I wanted to be an architect (I was particularly adept at 'technical drawing').
As a branding exercise (and for a bit of fun) I created my own logo.
